No two days look exactly the same for Nasar. His work might involve aligning with Product and Design leaders on the roadmap, participating in architecture reviews, or removing blockers so engineers can deliver more effectively. “My role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical engagement.”

Engineering excellence is central to his approach. That means building systems that are not only functional, but also resilient, scalable, and maintainable. But Nasar is equally passionate about developing people. “I’m passionate about helping engineers grow into senior contributors and future leaders.”

Bringing a Major Mobile Experience to Life

One of the projects Nasar is most proud of is leading the launch of a major mobile experience across Android and iOS.

The work touched core parts of the product that customers interact with every day. It also required close coordination across Engineering, Product, Design, Quality Assurance, and Release Management, often across different time zones and competing priorities. “There were moments when the path forward wasn’t obvious, and the team had to make thoughtful technical trade-offs under real deadline pressure.”

Despite the complexity, the team remained focused on delivering a high-quality experience without compromising its engineering standards. “What I’m proudest of is not only that we shipped on time, but how we shipped. We maintained strong quality standards, protected engineering excellence, and came out of the launch more aligned as a team.”

It was a powerful reminder that the way a team works together can be just as meaningful as the outcome it delivers.

Engineering Experiences Customers Can Trust

For Nasar, engineering decisions are never only technical. Every line of code, architecture decision, and trade-off ultimately influences the experience customers have. “When we get it right, customers feel protected without feeling burdened. Security becomes something that works quietly in the background, giving people confidence rather than friction.”

That customer perspective shapes how Nasar leads his team. Performance, usability, reliability, and scalability all play a part in creating an experience people can trust. “My team sits at the intersection of technology and customer experience. The quality of our engineering directly shapes how much customers trust McAfee.”

Nasar encourages engineers to look beyond individual features and consider the role their work plays in someone’s digital life. “We’re not just building software. We’re building the moment a customer decides whether McAfee belongs in their life.”

That mindset helps connect day-to-day engineering decisions with a much bigger purpose: helping people feel confident and protected online.

Collaboration at Its Best

One launch-day moment continues to stand out for Nasar. In the final stretch before launch, teams across Engineering, Product, Design, Marketing, and Customer Success were working together to bring months of planning and collaboration to life. Despite the complexity and pace, the atmosphere remained focused and calm.

"People trusted each other. They knew their teammates would step up."

That trust reflected a shared sense of ownership that cut across team boundaries. People weren't just executing their part of the plan. They were genuinely invested in the bigger picture. When the experience went live and the first wave of customer reactions came in, the collective sense of pride made all the hard work worthwhile. "That moment, that collective pride, is McAfee at its best, and it's something I'll carry with me for a long time."

Growing Through People and New Challenges

Throughout his career at McAfee, Nasar’s greatest source of growth has been the people around him. “The single biggest contributor to my growth at McAfee has been the people I’ve worked alongside and learned from over the years.”

That includes managers who invested in his potential, encouraged him to step beyond his comfort zone, and trusted him with greater responsibility. It also includes the engineers he has led. “The engineers on my teams, past and present, have challenged me to be a better technical leader and a better communicator.”

The work itself has also created continual opportunities to learn. In a fast-moving industry, evolving technology and changing customer expectations mean there is always another challenge to solve. “McAfee has always been a place that challenges you to keep learning and evolving. The problems are real, the stakes are high, and the landscape is constantly changing.”

Finding Space to Recharge

Outside of work, Nasar recharges by spending time with his family and stepping away from the pace of daily delivery. Simple moments, including conversations at home, time with his children, or a quiet break, help him reset and return with renewed focus. His curiosity for technology and learning continues outside work too, but without the pressure of a deadline or task list. “I enjoy staying connected to technology and learning, but in a way that feels curious and energizing rather than task-driven.”
