Building Tech That Matters
Nasar began his journey in mobile technology over a decade ago and joined McAfee in 2011. What started as a role focused on enhancing mobile security has grown into a leadership position where he now guides a cross-functional team of Android and iOS developers, automation experts, and QA engineers.
“My team and I have had the chance to build some of McAfee’s most user-focused mobile features,” Nasar shares. “Most recently, that includes Scam Detector — an experience designed from the ground up to help users spot and avoid scams.”
Engineering with Empathy
In his current role, Nasar doesn’t just manage engineering roadmaps — he fosters a culture of ownership and innovation. “I believe in creating an environment where engineers can do their best work. That means clear communication, shared goals, and a genuine connection to the people we’re building for,” he explains.
That mindset was essential during the development of Scam Detector. With mobile-specific features like email scam detection and ‘quick check,’ the team focused on delivering real value to users.
Putting People First
For Nasar, the heart of engineering lies in understanding the customer. “At McAfee, we talk a lot about putting the customer first—and that’s something I deeply believe in. We brought in user feedback early and often, collaborating closely with product and design teams to make sure we were solving real problems.”
By including users throughout the process — from beta testers to internal feedback loops — the team ensured that the final product wasn’t just functional, but meaningful.

One of the most rewarding parts of working on Scam Detector, Nasar says, was knowing the solution would help millions of people stay safer online. “Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and so are we. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of a team that’s making a tangible difference in people’s digital lives.”
The road wasn’t without its challenges — frequent iteration, multiple feedback channels, and rapid refinement but for Nasar, those moments were opportunities for growth and teamwork.
